Motorola is gearing up to launch a new flagship smartphone, the Motorola Edge 40 Neo, which is expected to be unveiled soon. The Edge 40 Neo will be a successor to the Edge 40, which was launched earlier this year. The Edge 40 Neo will feature some impressive upgrades in terms of design, performance, camera and battery.
Design and Display
The design of the Motorola Edge 40 Neo has been revealed by a 360-degree video that shows the handset from all angles. The Edge 40 Neo will sport a sleek and premium look, with a punch-hole display on the front and a square-shaped camera module on the back. The camera module will house two sensors, one of which is likely to be a periscope zoom lens. The Edge 40 Neo will also have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a USB-C port at the bottom.
The Edge 40 Neo will come in three colour options, sourced from Pantone: Black Beauty, Caneel Bay and Soothing Sea. The Black Beauty variant will have a glossy finish, while the other two will have a matte texture. The Caneel Bay colour will be a mint green shade, while the Soothing Sea colour will be a light blue hue.
The display of the Edge 40 Neo will be a 6.55-inch P-OLED panel with support for FHD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The display will also have HDR10+ certification and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. The display will offer an immersive viewing experience with minimal bezels and a high screen-to-body ratio.
Performance and Battery
The Motorola Edge 40 Neo will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1050 chipset, which is a rebranded version of the Dimensity 1200 chipset that was launched earlier this year. The Dimensity 1050 is an octa-core processor with two Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.5GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2GHz. The chipset also has a Mali-G77 MC9 GPU and supports dual-mode 5G connectivity.
The Edge 40 Neo will come with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded via a microSD card slot. The phone will run on Android 13 out of the box, with Motorola’s My UX skin on top. The phone will also have some exclusive features like Moto Actions, Moto Display and Moto Gametime.
The battery of the Edge 40 Neo will be a massive 5,000mAh unit, which will support fast charging up to 65W. The phone will also support wireless charging up to 15W and reverse wireless charging up to 10W. The battery will provide enough juice for a day of heavy usage or more than two days of moderate usage.
Camera and Other Features
The camera of the Edge 40 Neo will be one of its main highlights, as it will feature a 50MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS). The primary sensor will be capable of capturing stunning photos and videos in various lighting conditions. The secondary sensor will be a 13MP periscope zoom lens with an f/3.4 aperture and OIS4. The zoom lens will offer up to 10x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom, allowing users to capture distant objects with clarity and detail.
The front camera of the Edge 40 Neo will be a 32MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. The front camera will support features like portrait mode, night mode, HDR, beauty mode and face unlock. The front camera will also enable video calling and selfies in high resolution.
The Motorola Edge 40 Neo will have some other features like dual stereo speakers, NFC, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6E, GPS, GLONASS and Galileo. The phone will also have an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance2. The phone will measure 163 x 76 x 9 mm and weigh around 200 grams.
